Twenty-five years ago Stella aviation academy was a small training school for private pilots. Today it is the largest flying school in the Netherlands. The academy, which employs fifty people, provides professional pilot and flight instructor training and has bases at Teuge Airport (several kilometres east of Apeldoorn), Groningen Airport and Maastricht Aachen Airport.

Stella aviation academy is a fully accredited flying school and is entitled to describe itself as an official training institute for the civil aviation industry. The flying school has its own training classrooms, hangars and an extensive fleet. The academy provides training for an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Stella aviation academy also trains pilots for a so-called type rating in collaboration with aircraft manufacturer Boeing. If required, the type rating training can be customized to the airline-specific SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures).

The academy is widely admired for its professional organisation. At the same time its students also appreciate the intimate atmosphere at the school. They say it helps them maintain their focus yet also feel at ease as they shape their future.
